SESSIONS

  • What’s Behind Behind the Burly Q

“My personal journey chronicling the history of burlesque in America. From a treasure trove of personal stories and experiences documenting burlesque legends, I’ll share many never-before-told stories of men and women who lived and breathed burlesque. Not only is this a history of America but it’s also a behind-the-scenes look at how I filmed my documentary and wrote the book, with stories too personal to publish before. These men and women became my friends, and so many are lost. What was their current life like? How did they become stars on the stage?” If you can’t make this time, no worries, Leslie will be doing this twice! (see below)

  • What’s Behind Behind the Burly Q

Leslie Zemeckis gives you two chances to not miss this awesome presentation. “My personal journey chronicling the history of burlesque in America. • Icons of the Tease: From A(nn corio) to Z(orita)

What made them icons? What made them star strippers? The class will touch on many of the legendary performers from the 1920s – 1950s. How’d they get where they got? What was their gimmick? We’ll re-tell some of their intimate stories and adventures on and off the road. Everyone will have a greater understanding of the women who worked in an era when burlesque was even more of “scandalous” thing to do. Knowing about the women who went before us empowers today’s performers.
